“In the silence of the fields, the dead still whisper.” A Return to Uncle Sam's Haunted Farmland Sarah was excited because she would be visiting Uncle Sam's farmhouse after a long time. When she was a little girl, she visited the place during the school break. “Joseph must have grown into a young man now.” She thought of her cousin Joseph. Uncle Sam's house stood alone in the middle of a haunted farm , surrounded by vast fields of corn, soybeans, barley, and canola. Memories of playing hide-and-seek with Joseph, fishing in the nearby river, and cooking their catch over a fire made from dry wood and leaves could never be forgotten. It was wonderful to see Uncle Sam, Aunt Mary and Joseph again. They shared childhood memories and talked of Sarah’s parents, especially about Sarah’s father, who had passed away.
